Oh my Angel. Last night ruled balls. Patti Smith AKA your coolest mates mum. Dresden Dolls fucking rocked, that woman has some serious leg movement styles. Anthony less Johnsons was fucking amazing. Martha Wainwright was soooooo good, I fucking love her. She played a set after the main show with just a guitar and played Factory and Bloody Mother Fucking Asshole and a few others.

Summer in the City
So its been some long slow days in Customer Service of late. The AC makes loads of noise and almost drowns out the stereo so we end up sitting sweating without it on. Ah well. So I've been scouring the interweb for mixes and have come up with 3 new fave mix types. In order of amazingness
1 - DJ Rupture - DJ Rupture - Low Income Tomorrow Mix - RES magazine featured him as one of their 10 to watch and they weren't wrong - this mix is fucking insane - theres some more mixes on his website.
2 - Cerified Bananas - Certified Bananas Monthly Mixes - fucking wicked mix of hip hop and other bits and pieces - stand out tune is a chopped and screwed version of Modest Mouse - Float on. Hoisted.
3 - Low Bee - Low Bee Monthly Mixes - Diplo's partner in crime, the mixes are wicked. Similair in style to CB but still wicked.
So what else? Have actually been playing on the Ninja Tune forum loads recently and got some wicked mixes from there which I'll post soon. Someone posted these Japanese Smoking Manners - don't know if they're real or not but they cool as fuck.
Anyway, heres a little mini summer dust bowl mix - enjoy
Handsome Boy Modelling School - Sunshine
Mark Lanegan - Sleep with Me
PJ Harvey - Teclo
Calexico - Quattro (World Drifts In)
Queens of the Stoneage - Mosquito Song
The Arcade Fire - Haiti
The Cribs - Another Number (Rollercoaster Project Remix)
Death From Above 1979 - Black History Month
Mark Lanegan - Sleep with Me (Version)

Mini Mix for the weekend
So customer service has been pretty boring this week, hardly any mad people e-mailing me and hardly any good spam. This is about as good as it had been this week
Hi, I am looking for a song by *** that is an acoustic version and I don't know the song title (it came from a burnt CD that a friend of mine has and now the CD is not playing correctly.) I have searched the *** website and the sound clips, and I own purchased CDs, that I've also checked, that don't include this song. I was wondering if there are unreleased songs that *** has that are available on the internet because this song is one of my absolute favorites. I play the cello, and I believe that the song starts out on the cello, on a high "d" on the "a" string (in bass clef):
d-e-f natural-e-f natural-e-d- c natural- b flat-a-g-d-e-f natural-e-f natural-e-d-c natural
The length of the song is 4 minutes and 50 seconds, or thereabouts.
Those are the notes, I think, of the melody. I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me out by either telling me the title of the song and/or telling how or where I might find/purchase it.
See - thats not even bonkers although it is somehow worse than humming that broken beat tune to the dude in the record shop. Anyway this is a special mix for the weekend - there's something about people covering hip hop tunes in a non hip hop way, in fact anyone covering a tune from a different genre is onto a winner. As I've said before, this summer is brought to you by Sunshine Soul (fifth dimension, shuggie otis, rotary connection), covers and as ever when the summer hits, big fucking banging hip hop.
Nina Gordon - Straight Outa Compton
Ben Folds - Bitches Aint Shit
Rotary Connection - Like A Rolling Stone
Fifth Dimension - Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In
The Bad Plus - Iron Man
The Bug - Killer

Finally - Metal Finger Mouse
Yes yes - so finally we can hear the fruit of DM and MF. Don't know whether I've been overdosing on MF recently or perhaps I'm perplexed at why every tune he says that it was written in Sanksrit or with a finger in wet cement but I'm not as impressed as I thought I would be. Also theres a tune by Frank n Dank - Nice to meet you where he's like 'I'm a squirrel in your world tryin a get a nut' and then on Curls - Madvillian Doom drops almost the same lyric - whats up - chicken egg?????? Anyway have listen and let me know what you think - oh and this is my favourite ever Patti Smith tune this week
DangerDoom - Mincemeat
Patti Smith - Pissing in a River

Metal Fingered Villian
So last night was Book Slam East at the Great Eastern Hotel, special guests Dave Eggers and Johnothan Safran Foer and regulars Francesca Beard, Netsayi and the Neatums himself on fine form. Safron Foer read from his new book and was funny, geeky but funny and Eggers read some of the letters he wrote to Fortune 500 companies in the voice of an Irish Setter - genius.
Music for kids today, my fave recent guest appearances by the Metal Fingered Villian, AKA Geedorah AKA Viktor - Doooooooom
Zero 7 - Somersault (DangerMouse Remix ft MF Doom
De La Soul - Rock Co Cane Flow ft MF Doom
Gorillaz - November has Come ft MF Doom
Daedelus - Impending Doom ft MF Doom

Shit yeah - my first mp3 post - GRINDZZZZ
Yes please - now my job has become extra special exciting as I think I can now upload tunes for all my crew. Basically as all I seem to do at the moment is cruise the internet for jobs and mp3s I may as well share the wealth. First off Martha Wainwright who I can't tell if she's hot or not but Hombre said that she's got good legs, who knows who cares but she's gonna be performing at Patti Smith's meltdown - SWEDISH
Martha Wainwright - BMFA
